Running An Errand for Makeup
really enjoying the winter season in terms of being able to dress in
more wintry fashions. The bulk of my female wardrobe is geared for warm
weather, but it's always nice to get out in sweaters, long skirts, and
tights. I knew that I had a small window this morning to dress since my
wife would be away for most of the morning, and over breakfast when we
realized that we were out of milk, I promptly volunteered, "I'll go pick
some up." I'm always looking for errands that I can run as a girl, and
I'm also down to the last small sliver of powder in my makeup compact,
and so I thought it would be fun this morning to run a quick errand to a
local supermarket and pick up some milk and makeup.
My outing this morning would come quite early, and so I had two roles
from which to choose: mom just waking up with little makeup and track
pants or a working mom running into the store early in the morning for a
few quick items. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I did the mom in track
pants outing, and so I decided to dress a little bit nicer this morning.
I also haven't worn a maxi skirt in like forever, and I really wanted to
get out again in one of those. I don't know what it is about maxi
skirts, but the way the skirt caresses the legs with each step is one of
the most feminine feelings there is. Then when you add a long half slip
an silky nylons underneath, it's possible for a girl to just melt.
that I had determined that I would wear a maxi skirt, it was next time
to choose a top. In my first outing this month, I chose for my outfit a
summer party dress, and then I paired that with a darling cropped
sweater in a coral color to turn it into a cute cold weather outfit. I
wanted to do the same thing this morning, and so I browsed through my
collection of sleeveless tops and camis and pulled out a favorite from
yesteryear: a darling sleeveless top in pink with cute ruffles attached
to the v-neckline. This top is also by Ralph Lauren, and you know how we
girls love name brand clothing. I thought the top and maxi skirt by
themselves looked super cute, and perhaps around May when the weather is
starting to warm up a bit, and can wear that combination again, but on a
winter morning like this, I needed a sweater to layer over the pink
sleeveless top. This time I chose my cropped sweater in a heather gray
color, and I thought it worked really well with the pink inner layer and
the black maxi skirt.
The final touches to my outfit included silky pantyhose beneath my maxi
skirt in a taupe shade and then black ballet flats. I decided to keep my
hair straight, and I also thought it would be fun to use a pair of
sunglasses atop my head even though it was winter time. After popping in
my hoop earrings, I grabbed the other essentials like my camera and
purse, and this girl was ready to go.
my outing this morning, I chose a store that I have never visited as a
guy or a girl. In the next town over, they have what's called a Walmart
Neighborhood Market, and I found out that it's just like a regular
grocery store only run by Walmart. Sometimes I worry that I'm boring
everyone because I'm always going to the same places and doing the same
things, so I got really adventurous for me and visited a new store in
the next town! ;-) In all seriousness, I thrive on being just an
ordinary girl who wears ordinary clothes, and so I think that's why I'm
content to just stay local and do the things that other women my age
with kids would do.
Since I spent a little bit more time in the car this morning, I played
around a bit by taking pictures of me driving while wearing sunglasses.
I didn't really need them since it was overcast and chilly outside, but
I had a pair of big round sunglasses available, and so I wore them for a
bit as I drove and took a few pictures along the way in them. I didn't
particularly like how they turned out, however, and so I'll just post a
dashboard pic of me where you can see my entire face.
