A Dress for Danielle...and One for Me!  : )

a crossdressing man shopping for dresses2017 has definitely been the year of friends for me, and it's been delightful to meet some new faces and connect once again with some long-time friends.  One such friend is Danielle who I've known for close to seven years now. Back when instant messaging was popular, Danielle and I chatted nearly every day, and we became more than just friends; we became sisters.

As Danielle mentioned recently in an update she wrote after taking me to breakfast and then to shopping, she lost her wife earlier this year to cancer, and so it's been a tender time in our friendship as we've been dealing with Danielle's grief along with a major resurgence in her gender dysphoria.  I can see that I'm heading down a deep path with this conversation, so I will backtrack now and focus on the real intent of this update, and that's to reveal a huge crisis that has recently arisen in Danielle's life:  she doesn't have enough dresses to wear!

Since I didn't have a ton of time this morning to be a girl, I decided to keep my look as simple as possible, and so I started with a fun striped cardigan from Banana Republic, and then I paired that with a simple pair of girl blue jeans from Old Navy. Because the weather was so chilly outside, I wore a pair of L'eggs suntan pantyhose beneath my jeans and then finished my outfit with my brown Mary Jane flats.

I pulled into the Kohl's parking lot around 9:30 AM, and there was already a fair amount of cars in the parking lot. I felt confident in my look, and so I found the closest parking stall available, grabbed my purse, and headed for the women's section without attempting any photos outside.

I hope Danielle doesn't mind, but I decided to scour the clearance rack full of dresses to see if I could find something that would work for her. I'm not embarrassed to say that I shopped the clearance racks because I would never pay full price for a dress of my own, and I was also sure that I could find her a wonderful deal on a name-brand dress like Elle. Since I was on a tight schedule this morning, I found a mirror on the sales floor in the women's department in order to take a selfie, and then I went to work doing what I do best: shop the clearance racks.

There were two other ladies nearby in the clearance section, but all three of us were just paying attention to our own business, and I didn't worry about them nor did I detect any different glances from them either. Since I have a good idea of Danielle's dress size, I started looking in that section, and I would estimate that I had about five feet worth of dresses on the rack to choose from. I looked through each dress carefully, and my criteria was that I would not buy a dress for Danielle that I wouldn't wear myself.

After going through all of the dresses carefully, I found two that I thought might work. Both of the dresses were by Elle, and so I took them to the end of the rack and hung them up so I could examine them more closely. The first dress pictured above was black with two gorgeous sections of pink flowers.  This dress had a sewn in belt line that I felt would be able to rest just above Danielle's tummy and then flare out from there. I thought this was the prettiest dress of any available, and so I took a picture of it and texted it to Danielle asking her, "Would you wear this?"
