Shopping for Tops to Wear with a Black Bra (page 2 of 3)

The last time I visited this store I was focused on denim jeans because I felt is have I didn't haven enough jeans and/or skirts to wear, but now that I've added two cute skirts to my collection, it seemed as if I was now gravitating towards tops, especially tops that I could wear with a black bra. You could probably count on one hand the number of times I've worn a black bra beneath my top and ventured out into public, and I think the main reason for this is that I just love the soft, clean feeling of white bras. This probably stems from my growing up when I did back in the 70's and 80's where the majority of bras were white. These days it seems that white is the exception, but it's still my preferred color, and I am a stickler when it comes to the presentation of the bra from beneath the top.

Still, I think every girl has a bit of a wild side to her, and there's something exciting about wearing black lingerie, and so I figured that it's time for me to ease up a bit and wear black bras from time to time. I don't want to be gaudy or overbearing and wear a black bra with a light top, and so today I focused on tops that would actually require a black bra underneath. I found three or four candidates along with a few other tops that looked cute, and then it was time to visit the skirt section to see what I could find.

My strategy when shopping at the thrift store is to focus on brand name first. Brand names simply fit me better, and I think they look better. Human nature of wanting brand-name things could also be a factor, but I just feel more complete with brand name clothing, so my strategy is to leaf through the garments on the racks as quickly as I can focusing on brand name labels. Then, when I come across a label I prefer, I next examine the skirt itself to see if it's something that I could use. I ended up choosing about five different skirts today, and so coupled with my tops, I was ready for a lengthy session in the fitting room. As I walked towards the fitting rooms, I noticed that all of the stalls were full, and I shouldn't have been surprised because of the volume of cars in the parking lot, but I still didn't want to be just standing there with an armload of clothing.

I walked back to the skirt section to see if there was anything I had missed keeping my eye on the fitting rooms, but it didn't seem as if anyone was getting close to being done. The doors to these particular fitting rooms have a small space between the bottom of the door and the floor, and I'll I could see were bare feet and lots of clothes on the floor. I finally decided to walk over to the men's section and see what the fitting rooms were like there, and of course every single stall was empty, and so I decided that I would try everything on in the men's fitting room. I smiled at the thought of someone noticing a pair of feet beneath the door in suntan pantyhose, but I'm sure women use the men's fitting rooms all the time when it's busy.

I first started with the skirts, and so I removed my maxi skirt and half slip and then began trying them on. Two of the skirts didn't fit, and so I didn't even bother taking a picture of them, but one of them was a darling sheer, yellow skirt with a pretty rose stitched to the front on one side that was to die for. I think the skirt was actually sized for girls and not for women because I didn't even come close to fitting inside of it. I did take pictures of the three skirts I was able to fit into, and I'm posting them here.

The first skirt that fit was a cute red and white garment from the Gap that ended at the knee and had a fun flare to it. I was actually ready to take this one home, but if you look just under my right forearm, you can see something poking out at the side. It turned at that the waist on this skirt was brought in by about two inches, and it wasn't done very well, and that pokey outty thingy just bugged me, and so I ended up passing on this skirt.

The next skirt was a super cute mini skirt from Rue 21 in alternating black and white stripes. While short, the skirt had a pencil cut to it, and I really liked it, but standing there in front of the mirror, it just didn't feel right for a woman of my age. I mean, the skirt looks really good especially with suntan pantyhose on underneath, but I just don't have any place to wear it out. You've probably noticed by now that the majority of my adventures happen before noon, and if I decided to go clubbing or go to bars crossdressed, then this skirt would have been perfect, but that's just not my cup of tea, and so while cute, I passed on this skirt as well.
